Support Groups at Vision Tree vzw

Professionally facilitated groups in a safe, confidential environment

Stronger together: evidence-based support groups

At Vision Tree vzw, we organise professionally facilitated support groups for people going through a difficult period. Each group is built around a specific theme and led by a clinical psychologist with expertise in that area.

Our approach is evidence-based: we use methods whose effectiveness has been scientifically demonstrated, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural techniques and mindfulness-based interventions. Participants consistently find that shared experiences create connection and support the recovery process.

Alongside our support groups, we also offer individual guidance and training programmes. See our offer for individuals for a full overview.

  • Facilitated by clinical psychologists
  • Evidence-based methods (ACT, CBT, mindfulness)
  • Small groups (max. 8-10 participants)
  • Structured sessions with a clear framework
  • Full confidentiality guaranteed
  • Short introductory call before joining to find the right fit
  • Multilingual support available
  • Based in Brussels; partially online available

Our Therapeutic Approaches

We use proven methods adapted to what each participant needs

ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps participants accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them. The focus is on clarifying personal values and taking meaningful action, even in the presence of pain or uncertainty. Particularly well-suited for burnout, anxiety and chronic stress.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Techniques

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Participants learn to recognise and adjust negative thought patterns and build healthier habits step by step. A structured and practical approach with measurable results.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness-Based Methods

Through mindfulness-based interventions, participants learn to be consciously present in the current moment, without judgement. This reduces rumination, strengthens self-awareness and fosters calm and resilience. Science-backed exercises that can be practised at home as well.

Examples of Group Themes

Our support groups focus on specific life situations and challenges

Stress and Burnout

For people dealing with overload, exhaustion or a threatened or active burnout. We work on recovery, setting boundaries and reconnecting with what truly matters.

Anxiety and Worry

A group for people struggling with persistent anxious thoughts, social anxiety or generalised worry. Together we learn to live with uncertainty and reclaim everyday life.

Grief and Loss

For people dealing with the loss of a loved one, a relationship or a life chapter. In a safe group setting, there is space for sorrow, hope and gradual rebuilding.

Parenting Support

Parenthood brings great joy but also real challenges. This group offers a space for parents to share experiences, discover strategies and support each other through the journey of raising children.

Migration and Belonging

For people who know the challenges of migration, cultural identity and finding a sense of home. A group that connects through shared experience and helps to put down new roots.

Women's Empowerment

A closed group for women working on self-confidence, resilience and self-expression. We explore setting boundaries, self-worth and personal growth in a supportive, women-centred environment.

Multilingual support available

Vision Tree vzw is one of the very few organisations in Brussels that offers access to psychologists who speak Dutch, French, English, Arabic, and Turkish. This makes a real difference for people for whom the language barrier prevents them from seeking professional help. You can tell your story in the language closest to your heart, without having to translate what you feel.

This unique offer applies to both our support groups and to individual psychological guidance sessions.
