DEPART (Digital Education for PARenTs) is an Erasmus+ cooperation partnership in adult education that helps parents build the digital skills they need to guide their children safely and confidently online. The consortium brings together organisations from Romania, Belgium, Italy, Poland and Slovenia, each contributing a different perspective: adult learning, psychology, technology, media literacy and family support.
The starting point is simple. Children grow up in a digital world their parents never had to learn. Fake news, sharenting, in-game purchases, phishing messages, endless scrolling and cyberbullying are part of everyday family life, while parents are expected to set limits and give advice on topics they may not feel sure about themselves. DEPART closes that gap with practical, accessible materials instead of technical jargon.
Together with our partners we are developing a guide for parents and trainers covering digital literacy, communication and collaboration online, and digital security for the family. The project also produces worksheets parents can use at home, short scenario videos on realistic situations such as fake news, safe shopping and gaming, the digital footprint, social media use, passwords and phishing, and cyberbullying, and an online platform that brings everything together in several languages.
Vision Tree contributes its interdisciplinary expertise in psychology, technology and education. Our team works on the content of the guide, on the Dutch and multilingual versions of the materials, on the training activities for parents and professionals, and on dissemination in Belgium, so that the results reach families, schools and community organisations here as well.
